SEASONS TRAINING BRINGS RESULTS

A season under the guidance of areUfit cycling coach Robin Akers has led to success on the road and off road for two riders.

Keri Williams (Banbury Star) competed in road races throughout 2002 and although he found road race points hard to come by he completed a very successful 12hr TT at the beginning of September. A specially adapted training programme enabled him to cover 240 miles over the 12hours. The programme devised by areUfit included advise on diet leading upto the race and refuelling during the event.

Seen in action second from the left Keri commented “I’m really really pleased with the way things went and although tired after the event my legs felt ok. My distance exceeded my expectations and helped smash the three rider club record by about 30 miles”

He went on to comment about areUfits help and guidance through the year
“Although points have been hard to come by I have been pleased with my form and fitness. I’m definately the fittest I have ever been and riding really well. All in all a good and enjoyable season thanks to areUfit”

Huw Jones (Ciclo Montana) finished third overall in the 2002 Midlands Super Series Masters category. Racing against virtually full time riders. Huw combined his training and racing with a full time job. This meant that he had to fit in his training around his profession in the evenings and at  weekends. This is a common problem faced by riders coached by areUfit. All our programmes are designed to suit the amount of time individual riders can commit as we realise that what works for one rider does not necessarily work for another rider.
